The vision of the Department of Clothing and Textiles is to become one of the leading departments delivering professional and technical expertise to both the apparel industries and society. Our department also aims to provide students with an integrated, yet customized, quality education to prepare them for future careers in the global apparel industries.

Curriculum/Program

The department of Clothing and Textiles offers professional programs that integrate theory and practice to foster experts in the fashion industry. The curriculum is designed to allow students to specialize in the design, production and marketing of textile and apparel products. By providing systemic teaching and training with a certain product-focused process according to the student’s track, the student is able to develop holistic and realistic views of the entire spectrum of the fashion industry. Other basic education topics such as creativity, sensibility and leadership are encouraged to be practiced through extracurricular activities.

Food & Nutrition

The Food and Nutrition undergraduate programs started in 1981 to study basic principles and applied knowledge of food and nutrition science. CNUs curriculums are carefully formulated to develop in-depth knowledge and experience to accommodate each students individual needs and interests. Our faculty members areas of research interest are constantly evolving. Current interests of professors in the field of nutrition are lipid nutrition, human diet/metabolic studies involving manipulation of dietary intake of minerals, assessment and improvement of community nutrition status, and institutional food services management. Also, current areas of interest for faculty members in the field of food science include food microbiology, scientific research on traditional Korean foods, functional food, sensory evaluation, and physicochemical analysis of food components.Students are eligible to become registered dieticians, public health nutritionists, clinical nutritionists, sanitary experts, food manufacturing engineers, environmental engineers, and baking experts. The employment rate of our graduates in 2001 was 87%.

Career Opportunities

Graduates from the department become researchers in food and nutrition-related laboratories, registered dieticians in schools, hospitals, industry, commercial food services, public health care centers, and government agencies, while some become middle or high school teachers after completing courses in education.

Consumer Life & Information
Vision and Goal

Department of Consumers’ Life Information supports students protect and improve consumers’ life in knowledge-based society. We provides consumers’ life information to individuals, families, businesses and communities. Our department helps students prepare to be a global specialist, innovative & challenging leader, and practical activist.

Curriculum/Program

We provide programs related to Analysis of consumer’s life information, education and consulting of consumer life information, food service industry management, family planning and financial counseling, knowledge of life science, life information and business to meet importance of consumer’s life information and contemporary request of professional human resources. Successful completion of our program satisfies the education component of the Associate Financial Planner Korea(AFPK) certification process.
