The vision of the Department of Clothing and Textiles is to become one of the leading departments delivering professional and technical expertise to both the apparel industries and society. Our department also aims to provide students with an integrated, yet customized, quality education to prepare them for future careers in the global apparel industries.

Curriculum/Program

The department of Clothing and Textiles offers professional programs that integrate theory and practice to foster experts in the fashion industry. The curriculum is designed to allow students to specialize in the design, production and marketing of textile and apparel products. By providing systemic teaching and training with a certain product-focused process according to the student’s track, the student is able to develop holistic and realistic views of the entire spectrum of the fashion industry. Other basic education topics such as creativity, sensibility and leadership are encouraged to be practiced through extracurricular activities.

Food & Nutrition

The undergraduate programs of the department of Food and Nutrition opend in 1981 to study basic principles and applied knowledge of food and nutrition science. Our curriculum are carefully formulated to develop in-depth knowledge and experience to accommodate each individual’s needs and interests. Areas of research interest of our faculty members are constantly evolving. Current interests of our faculty members in the field of nutrition are several metabolic disorders including inflammatory diseases and obesity, that manipulation of dietary intake of minerals, assessment and improvement of community nutrition status, and institutional food services management in current digital age. Also, current areas of interest for faculty members in the field of food science include food microbiology, scientific research on traditional Korean foods, functional food, sensory evaluation, and physicochemical analysis of food components. Students graduated from our department are eligible to become registered dietitians, public health nutritionists, clinical nutritionists, sanitary experts, food manufacturing engineers, and baking experts.

Career Opportunities

Graduates from the department become researchers in food and nutrition-related laboratories, registered dietitians in schools, hospitals, industry, commercial food services, public health care centers, and government agencies, while some become middle or high school teachers after completing courses in education.

Consumer Science
Vision and Goal

Department of Consumer Science focuses on improving the quality of life for consumers. We strive to provide education and research that enhances the consumer life efficiency and consumer welfare. Our department helps students prepare to be a global specialist, innovative & challenging leader, and practical activist.

Curriculum/Program

Consumer Science contributes to the enhancement of consumer welfare by promoting consumer-oriented business activities and national economy through investigating how consumers could rationally allocate resources, make good purchase decision making, and how the society could make educational and institutional plans to train responsible consumers. The Consumer Science Major aims to cultivate consumer professionals that could train competent consumers and create a consumer-oriented market environment. The Department of Consumer Science offers both Master’s and Doctoral programs that can train students to explore theories and practices that could enhance the general consumption environment.
