Department of Chemical Engineering Education

The Department of Chemical Engineering Education was founded in 1977 as a member of the College of Engineering Education. As the belonging college was converted to focus on engineering oriented education, transformed Our department was reorganized into the Division of Industrial Education under the College of Engineering in 2006 and finally transferred to the College of Education in 2009 for cultivating teacher students as leading professionals in education market.

Chemical engineering is an industrial area that apply basic sciences such as physical chemistry (e.g. chemistry and physics), life sciences (e.g. biology, microbiology and biochemistry), and mathematics, into the industrial processes that convert raw materials or chemicals into more valuable products. In addition, the modern chemical engineering is also taking roles in pioneering new functional materials and cutting-edge techniques such as nanotechnology and biomedical engineering. The chemical engineering generally covers the design, improvement and maintenance of processes involving chemical or biological transformations for large-scale manufacture.

Our department focuses on practical education as well as broad knowledge of major studies for students to become competent teachers with providing students academic theories and their practical methodologies in both the fields of chemical engineering and education. The students will acquire theoretical backgrounds and skills to teach chemical engineering with teaching certification for secondary schools with graduation. In addition, students can obtain additional certificates via the Integrated Program in the college. A majority of our graduates are teaching chemical engineering at secondary schools and making great contributions to educational development in educational society.
